Dean's Beans is a 100% organic, fair trade, kosher roaster and a pioneer in the specialty coffee industry. For over 25 years we have had an unyielding commitment to peaceful social change, environmental responsibility and sustainable practices. We source from 12 countries and have longstanding relationships with each of the farming cooperatives from where we directly purchase our beans. In these countries, we have also established what we call People-Centered Development programs, which focuses on the real needs of local communities for the necessities of life (clean water, health care, income generation).  We are committed to small, meaningful projects that the community actually wants, and that are sustainable over time without our continued involvement. We have a great respect for mother Earth and our environment, and have been carbon-neutral since 2003. We have achieved this documented status through our fully solar-powered facility and our reforestation efforts. In all we have fully funded the plantation of over 350,000 trees in Peru, Guatemala, and Sumatra. We have made it a priority to always pay farmers well above the fair trade minimum price and then offer our roasted product well below the market price. Hence our philosophy "but high, sell low".
